I was just skimming through our book IN SICKNESS AS IN HEALTH, and the final chapter contains words of wisdom from our interviewees. Some of them take my breath away.
Here are a couple of my favorites:
- "Think like a person who is going to be around."
- "You can have wholeness without recovery."
"The body heals. That's the only thing it knows how to do."
What are some of the most useful or moving words of wisdom or pieces of advice you've gotten, from any source?

I like, "always look on the bright side of life", and "when life gives you lemon, give them back, and ask for money instead"
I'm not sure if you know about Ram Dass, the Harvard professor named Richard Alpert who went to India and got all into Hinduism, Buddhism, and yoga. He wrote a book and titled it "Be Here Now." That phrase reminds me to stay in the present, in time and location. No need to feel anxiety about the future, no need to feel shame, sadness, or guilt about the past. Just stay right in the present! Hopefully this short mantra will stir something for you too :) Thanks for sharing in your post. I'm glad to have found your blog.
